Pros:
- small
- short
- light
- 52mm filter size
- sharp
- IS
- native EF-M lens
- $349
Neutral:
- plastic lens mount. Didn’t put this as a con since its smooth and works fine. I suppose people are worried about wear longevity and the mating being precise, but I haven’t found it to be any different.
Cons: none that I can see
The tradeoff when you buy a short, small, light, 52mm filter size the lens will not be a f2.8 but will be relatively slow. With ISOs going up so high slow lenses are not as limiting as before. I use this lens mainly for landscapes, wildlife, and with a tripod and as you can see below the pix turn out fine. If you need a faster telephoto, to freeze motion for instance use the EF to EF-M adaptor and mount the excellent 70-200 f/2.8 for $1900. The extra weight, size, price, is it really worth it?
