4.5.2020 Version 13:10 So given that we are 12-24 months away from a coronavirus vaccine and then another 12-36 months before we are globally vaccinated, means we are 2-5 years away from being globally vaccinated. Let that sink in for few minutes. Life will not go back to normal as in pre January 2020 life until April 2022-2025. This is unbelievable. At some point we will have to accept and plan for this. What do we do in until the majority of people in the US are vaccinated? That would be April 2022 at the soonest. What do we do for the next 2 years?
Financially
- Don’t spend money on anything but food, meds, housing.
- Budget how long you can survive with current expenses and income
- Sell off anything you don’t need on cl, ebay, offerup
Your housing and car
- Park your car in the garage due to the coming spike in car burglaries.
- If you must park your car on the street arm the alarm, don’t leave anything in the car.
- Have weapons readily accessible in your house.
- Lock side gates and all doors.
- Install a ring doorbell or peephole so you can see who is at the door.
- Install security cameras around the house.
Supplies
I would plan on having 2-3 months on hand in case things get progressively worse. As the virus subsides, restock. Utilities water, gas, and electricity should be fine, but just in case buy:
- Propane tanks for your BBQ
- A can opener, hand operated
- Rechargeable batteries and a charger
- Frozen meat, fruit, vegetables
- Canned food, soup, chili,
- Rice, you should have 50-100 lbs
- A rice cooker
- Another freezer or fridge if you can afford it to store the extra food.
- Water, well don’t buy it but just use your Brita to fill up used containers.
- Reusable ice in case we lose power for short periods of time. Don’t open the freezer, or just once to get it out and put in on the top shelf of the fridge during an outage.
Physically
Keep fit! Exercise everyday. It helps reduce stress and anxiety.
- Run or bike
- Yoga
- Weights
- Weapon specific exercises and drills
- Be careful about falling into former bad habits, stress eating, smoking, alcohol, drugs etc…
Weapons
I don’t expect it to get The Walking Dead bad, but it will get much worse than it is today 4.5.2020. People will run out of money and food by May 2020 and it will just get worse after that. I expect grocery stores to get robbed or shoplifted. The local police, private security, and possibly the national guard will get called in to guard the stores, maintain order and social distance. People however will still be desperate and will then look for other sources for food. At this point, stay in your house and only have food delivered and left at your doorstep. Make sure the delivery person is well out of sight before opening the door.
- Guns, won’t be required at the grocery store
- Knives, machetes, won’t be required at the grocery store
- Pepper spray, a good thing to carry whenever you go outside your house
Still, if you have guns, I would make sure they are clean, functioning, and you have plenty of ammo and your knives and machetes are sharp.
Violence, hate crimes
- If you are Asian American, note that you are being targeted for blame by the President and his followers. Keep your trips outside the house to a minimum. If you go for a run, consider going with a housemate and also carrying pepper spray. Be very aware of your surrounding and don’t let anyone get near you. Check your six to make sure no one is following you. When things get really bad, consider packing a pistol or revolver on your person.
- The main venue for racism targeting Asian Americans will be online.
