Full size tripods and heads are a bit of overkill for a mirrorless APS-C camera. I recommend the Sirui T-025X or equivalent. The model numbers have changed since I bought this several years ago. Travel tripods are great. They are light, compact, can fit inside a camera bag, and can support a mirrorless camera with no problem. However, one of the challenges of using a travel tripod is that the height required for a shot may be beyond the limitation of the tripod. So what do you do? Improvise.
For this shot of the canyon river in Taroko National Park, I put the tripod on top of the railing. This is unstable so keep that in mind. A sand bag or sock full of uncooked beans or rice can also work well in these situations.
This is a bit precarious. A bump and your whole rig could go over the side and into the river.

I tried to make this set up work, but as you can see, it was just too short to clear the railing. So now what?

This wasn’t going to work. The railing is just too high.
